4 Questions for Laura Redmond from Redmond Accounting

August 25, 2011

Q. How did you get into your line of work? Rightrail_Laura_Blog
Organizing, accounting and technology were consistent themes in my career…from my first job out of school organizing the tech department of a large accounting firm…to accounting at a Virtual Reality company. My subsequent experience as both a Financial Controller and IT Manager allowed me to hone these skills to create efficient accounting systems.

Q. What have you learned through the school of hard knocks?
Get it in writing!

Q. What keeps you up at night?
I enjoy building systems to improve accounting workflow processes and sometimes work until wee hours creating them.

Q. How has Bill.com helped your business chase its dreams?
Bill.com’s features are in line with our hallmarks – cloud-based, paperless, electronic, systemized, orderly and reliable. These traits are not easy to attain in the accounting world rife with important source documentation. We spent many years creating work-around processes to achieve these characteristics: peer-to-peer in-house networks, directories for electronic images, printing and mailing checks and invoices, requesting copies of cleared checks, chasing manual payment status and relaying account history to vendors and customers. Those days are over. Bill.com brings the document image together with the transaction…adds powerful electronic features…and delivers it in a simplified, online interface.  Thank you Bill.com for making our dreams come true.
